Fictional Card Games are games that emerged first in
films,
books, comics, TV shows, series, etc. and then began popular among
players. You see, great authors are good not only in
creating plots, but also in making up fictional card
games.
No doubt you have seen 'Friends', right? And surely
you witnessed how Chandler wanted to help Joey with
some money for rent? Yeah? But Joey didn't want to take any
money, so Chandler had to invent a way to make him take money. And he
did invent the game called 'Cups'.
Terry Pratchett made some of his players take to Cripple Mr. Onion. The
game combines elements of poker and blackjack. Later on this
game got rules and a specially designed deck, because Cripple Mr. Onion
can be played with an eight suit deck only. The fictional card game has
become a commercial
one.
The game of 'Damage' is really of a wrecking nature. This fictional
card game was played by characters of the novel 'Consider Phlebas'. It
can remind of poker
card games, but lives serve as tokens. As soon as a player
loses her live is killed. The game has an emotion reflection
structure so that to impress other players and to make them take the
wrong decisions or even commit suicides. Sad...
Not long ago the seventh and the final book of Harry Potter series that
is 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' was released. Harry Potter
has become a world known character, the books about the wizard boy have
been translated into a lot of languages and the series have been
broadcasted everywhere. No wonder that the game of Exploding Snap has
been added to the list of fictional card games. It is about
playing cards that explode. Players are scared of playing it too loud
not to bother their fellow students, but quite often Hogwart students
do play Exploding Snap in a class to irritate a
teacher.
Who knows what next fictional card
game will be and what will be its origins?
